Owen Pallett

Owen Pallett is a composer, violinist, keyboardist, and vocalist. They have released a string of critically praised solo recordings, winning the Polaris Prize in 2006. Owen currently releases albums with Secret City Records and Domino Recording Co., and has performed as a solo performer with orchestras worldwide. Their chamber music work has been commissioned by The National Ballet of Canada, The Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Bang On A Can, The Barbican, among many others. He served as curator of the TSO’s New Creations Festival in 2017 and was commissioned by the Art Gallery Of Ontario to curate a 60 minute program of choral pieces, in celebration of the opening of the galleries Early Rubens exhibit in 2019. Pallett’s most recent album, Island was released in May 2020.

Owen has written string, brass and orchestral arrangements for numerous artists, including Frank Ocean, Caribou, The National, Taylor Swift, R.E.M., Pet Shop Boys, Christine and the Queens, The Last Shadow Puppets, Duran Duran, Sigur Rós and Linkin Park. They won an “Album Of The Year" Grammy for their work on Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs. They have scored several films and won an Emmy for their work on Solve Sundsbo’s Fourteen Actors Acting and was nominated for an Academy Award for their work on the original score of Spike Jonze’s Her. Owen currently lives in Toronto.
